Certain Tastykake products were issued a voluntary recall after “tiny fragments of mesh wire” were discovered in the snack food.
Flowers Foods Inc., the Georgia-based company best known for producing the Tastykakes brand of pastries, issued a statement on Sunday that they were taking a “precautionary measure” by recalling Tastykake multipack cupcakes after small pieces of mesh wire were found. Included in the recall were the chocolate cupcakes, the creme-filled chocolate cupcakes, and the buttercreme iced creme-filled chocolate cupcakes.
“The recall was initiated following notification by a vendor of the possible contamination in a supplied ingredient,” read the statement from Flowers Foods.
