With the 2020 Democratic primary pretty much wrapped up, things are starting to heat up for the general election as Joe Biden received an endorsement from the 2016 Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton.
To no one’s surprise, Hillary Clinton blessed Biden’s campaign on Tuesday, April 28th. Hopefully she told him about the dangers of not visiting Wisconsin.
With the coronavirus pandemic impacting voting during the Democratic primary, states have looked towards voting completely by mail as an alternate solution. After postponing their primary from March 17th to April 28th, Ohio decided to become the nation’s guinea pig by transitioning from in-person to mail-in voting. State officials report the process hasn’t been smooth since they’ve been trying to navigate ways to follow election laws while protecting voting citizens and poll workers from the coronavirus.
But with the primary being wrapped up, New York became the first state to cancel their June 23rd primary election due to coronavirus, opting to not even test out the mail-in ballot process. Biden’s last remaining challenger, Bernie Sanders, who dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden, ended up being removed from the ballots in New York as a result.
Of course, this probably has little bearing on the general election, since New York hasn’t gone to a Republican since Ronald Reagan carried it in 1980 and 1984.
