The View host blames Pelosi for Trump’s ‘go back’ comment

The View host Sunny Hostin blamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for President Trump’s recent attacks on freshman Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

Hostin pointed out Thursday that because Pelosi did not acknowledge that the four congresswomen were women of color, she helped open the door for Trump to criticize the lawmakers.

“My point is that when you do lob it back to four freshman congresswomen who are women of color, you must acknowledge the fact that they are seen as women of color and their experience is going to be different,” Hostin said. “And that is why I think when Donald Trump first tweeted out about these women, he said, ‘Nancy Pelosi, I’m sure, will buy your ticket out of here.’ So he connected the two.”

Earlier this month, Pelosi criticized the four congresswomen as just “four people.”

Ocasio-Cortez responded that the California Democrat was “singling out” women of color.

Trump tweeted Sunday that Ocasio-Cortez and the other three freshman congresswomen should “go back” to their native countries.
