Biden campaign capitalizes on viral debate moment by selling ‘Will You Shut Up, Man’ T-shirts

The Biden campaign was quick to seize on the former vice president’s retort during the first debate that President Trump should “shut up” after repeatedly interrupting.

During the Tuesday night debate, Joe Biden told Trump, “Will you shut up, man?” early on in the first matchup between the political rivals. According to the Hill, the Biden Victory Fund began selling T-shirts bearing the phrase on its website even before the 90-minute debate concluded.

The black unisex shirts feature the phrase superimposed over a photo of Trump on the front of the shirt with the Biden-Harris logo below it. The shirts are being sold for between $30 to $33 depending on size.

The quick turnaround and marketing of the shirts harkens back to the Democratic presidential primary debates in which Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris, seized on a viral clash between her and Biden.

During that debate, Harris referred to Biden’s past reluctance over forced integration of public schools through busing by telling the story of a girl who was bused to school during that time in California, saying, “That little girl was me.”

“It was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing. There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to school every day,” Harris told the former vice president. “That little girl was me.”

During the debate, Harris’s team tweeted out a photo of the candidate as a child with pigtails. Hours later, Harris’s campaign began selling black T-shirts with the photo for about $30.

Biden ended up picking Harris as his running mate in August. He and Trump engaged in contentious verbal sparring throughout the Tuesday event, which was chaotic and saw moderator Chris Wallace unsuccessfully attempting to rein in the frequent interruptions.
