Brian Laundrie’s sister: ‘Just come forward’

Brian Laundrie’s sister shared a message she said she hopes will get to her brother, asking him to turn himself in so that she and his family can be left alone.

Cassie Laundrie appeared in a Tuesday interview with Good Morning America and shared her thoughts on the ordeal of Gabby Petito’s death and her brother’s disappearance. Laundrie said she does not know where her brother is but that if she did, she would “turn him in,” according to ABC News.

“I would tell my brother to just come forward and get us out of this horrible mess,” Laundrie added.

Lenny DePaul, a former chief inspector and commander with the U.S. Marshals, told Good Morning America he tends to believe Cassie, noting her nonverbal communication and saying that she has been forthcoming.

“I tend to believe her, and again, she’s forthcoming, so the parents may be just kind of taking a step back and not wanting to get her involved and whatnot,” DePaul told the outlet.

The day before the interview, Laundrie was approached by people outside her home demanding answers regarding her brother’s whereabouts. They asked Laundrie about a recent visit that she and her family had with Brian and her parents on Sept. 1 and 6. Laundrie responded and said they had s’mores and that Petito was never discussed during the visit, according to a TikTok video uploaded by @chroniclesofolivia.

Laundrie was also asked if she believes her parents are involved in Brian’s disappearance, to which she responded, “I don’t know.”

DePaul went on to say he does not believe Brian has left the country but that it is possible that he is on the Appalachian Trail. He noted that Cassie said Brian has gone hiking on the trail for weeks at a time and that authorities should focus their energy there.
