Unvaccinated Democratic National Committee employees have been directed that they could lose their jobs if they refuse inoculation against COVID-19.
Employees were told through an email Monday evening that unless they had a documented medical exemption that they could possibly “face termination” by choosing to remain unvaccinated, Politico reported. Monica Guardiola, the chief operations officer for the DNC, explained in the email that this policy, which applies to those doing in-person work at the DNC headquarters, was “a critical tool” in order to continue to fight against COVID-19 and save additional lives.
“This is part of the President’s national strategy and is a critical tool to combat COVID-19 and save lives in the months ahead,” Guardiola said in the email.

Beginning Jan. 3, 2022, all employees will be required to return for in-person work, according to the email, but some employees will begin office work between October and November of this year.
On Sept. 9, President Joe Biden announced his new six-part initiative to address the coronavirus pandemic and the surge of the delta variant, which included a provision that the COVID-19 vaccine would be mandatory for healthcare workers whose employers received funds from the federal government. Businesses with 100 or more employees were also ordered to require vaccinations or weekly testing for their employees. Businesses that fail to comply would be subject to fines of up to $14,000 for each violation.
In the days following Biden’s announcement, several large businesses announced vaccine requirements for their employees. Raytheon, which employs roughly 125,000 employees in the United States, demanded that staff be fully vaccinated by Jan. 1, and other businesses, such as Amtrak, Delta Air Lines, DoorDash, McDonald’s, and Tyson Foods, have already implemented vaccine mandates for their employees. Some localities have also mandated vaccines for public employees. More than 5,000 educators in New York City were predicted to lose their jobs over their refusal to get a COVID-19 vaccine in compliance with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Aug. 23 mandate.

Other local governments have moved in the opposite direction, with Florida, Texas, and others banning vaccine passports, which Republican governors argue infringe on personal freedoms.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the DNC for a statement but did not hear back by the time of publication.
