Rudy Giuliani, the personal attorney of President Trump, said the transcript of the president’s call to the Ukrainian president was read to him.
The 75-year-old lawyer made the claim during a Wednesday interview on Fox & Friends in which he defended Trump and accused the anonymous whistleblower of performing a “political hit job.”
Giuliani said in the interview that the Ukrainian president might have been the one to bring up Joe Biden and not Trump. The interview comes the day after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Democrats would be starting an impeachment inquiry against the president.
Democrats contend that Trump may have pressured the Ukrainian president with a quid pro quo agreement to investigate Joe Biden and his son’s business dealings. The president and his team have accused Biden of getting the top Ukrainian prosecutor fired for his investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings with the country. The controversy started after an anonymous whistleblower from the intelligence community filed a report connected to Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president.
Giuliani has given a series of explosive interviews in the last couple days, including a CNN interview in which he and host Chris Cuomo shouted at each other for 30 minutes and a Fox interview on Tuesday in which he threatened a lawsuit against a former aide to Sen. Chuck Schumer.
