President Trump praised his wife, Melania, for the “spectacular job” she did preparing for his administration’s first state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.
“[Melania] did a spectacular job hosting the President of France @EmmanuelMacron and his wife Brigitte. Every detail was done to perfection. The State Dining Room never looked more beautiful, and Washington is abuzz over what an incredible job Melania did,” Trump tweeted Wednesday.

The Macrons arrived in Washington, D.C., on Monday and had dinner with the Trumps at Mount Vernon. On Tuesday, the White House hosted a state dinner with their French counterparts.
Tuesday’s dinner was one of the biggest, if not the biggest, events the first lady’s office has planned in the last year.
Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s communications director, took a shot at the media earlier this week, saying the East Wing may not get the “credit we deserve” for the event.
“But I know this team is great and she knows this team is great. We have not failed, and she has not failed,” Grisham told the New York Times.
