Fox News anchor Shepard Smith cut into President Trump’s Monday speech on the environment, which was being broadcast live, in order to rebut several claims the president had made.
As Trump touted environmental achievements made by his administration, Smith began citing a New York Times analysis from early June that claimed Trump had rolled back, or begun rolling back 83 environmental regulations during his time in office. The New York Times report sourced research conducted by Columbia Law School and Harvard Law School which offered a critical summary of the president’s environmental record.
The president joined the Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler and several others to promote achievement in lowering air pollution, specifically of harmful gasses such as sulfur dioxide.
Toward the end of the speech, Florida bait and tackle shop owner Bruce Hrobak thanked the president for all he had done saying, “I speak for so many people. You bring my heart to warmth for everything you’re doing all the way around.”
Smith interrupted the live broadcast to pan the president’s claim of success saying his record was “widely criticized by environmentalists and academics” before reviewing the many government rules and regulations the Trump administration had worked to repeal.
