Police have identified the suspected shooter who opened fire at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, Calif., on Tuesday as Nasim Najafi Aghdam, a 39-year-old woman from San Diego.
The San Bruno Police Department said in a press release that Aghdam was found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Four people were wounded during the shooting and are receiving medical treatment, according to law enforcement.
“The San Bruno Police Department is investigating a motive for this shooting,” the press release said. “At this time there is no evidence that the shooter knew the victims of this shooting or that individuals were specifically targeted.”
Police also shared a photo of Aghdam.

Aghdam had been critical of YouTube in the past. She claimed the platform “discriminated and filtered” her own YouTube content in a video from Jan. 2017, NBC Bay Area reported.
According to a report from The Mercury News, the suspect’s father, Ismail Aghdam, said her family had reported his daughter as missing to police and warned them that she might go after YouTube because she “hated” the company. The report said Mountain View police found Aghdam sleeping in her car Tuesday morning and after she answered some questions the family was notified.
Ismail Aghdam told The Mercury News that he was not aware that his daughter had a gun and suggested she “maybe” bought one recently.
The San Bruno Police Department said Tuesday evening that officials arrived at the YouTube headquarters at 12:48 p.m. local time, within minutes after receiving the initial 911 call reporting an active shooter in the building.
Upon their arrival, the police found Aghdam with a gunshot injury outside the building as other employees left the premises.
Three people were sent to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital for treatment on gunshot wounds. A man remains in critical condition at the hospital, while two other women remain in serious and fair condition.
Another victim experienced a broken ankle and received assistance at Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Medical Center, according to the hospital.
The police department says tactical team did a sweep of the YouTube campus and the scene is being processed for evidence.
There are no other suspects at this time, according to police.
