Joe Biden forgot to mention two grandchildren when discussing how the Biden clan was staying connected during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I have five grandchildren. Every single day I either talk to them or we text,” the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee told late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon. “I’ve got family scattered around like I suspect everybody does.”
Biden, the former two-term vice president, appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon from the recreation room of his Wilmington, Delaware, home, which has been converted into a TV studio as he tries to sustain a national presence while quarantined in his house.
The 36-year Delaware senator has repeatedly said during the outbreak that his two grandchildren from his late son Beau Biden “walk through neighborhoods and across a park area” to visit from their nearby home, and they catch each other up on their lives from a safe distance.
But Biden’s comments late Wednesday come after reports his second son Hunter Biden and his new wife Melissa Cohen welcomed a baby boy on the weekend.
The newborn is Hunter Biden’s fifth child. The 50-year-old, who was a central figure in President Trump’s impeachment investigation, has three children with Kathleen Buhle, his ex-wife of 24 years, and another daughter with Lunden Roberts, an Arkansas woman who stripped at a club in Washington, D.C. Hunter Biden originally denied he was the father of Roberts’s baby.
Joe Biden has not acknowledged the birth, nor did he attend the couple’s wedding, though he did thank Cohen for “giving my son the courage to love again.” Hunter Biden married Cohen, 33, last May, six days after meeting the South African divorced filmmaker. They are renting a 2,000-square-foot home in the Hollywood Hills, where Hunter Biden is pursuing an art career.
