Brian Stelter book Hoax to examine ‘twisted’ relationship between Trump and Fox News amid coronavirus

A top television personality is set to release a new book detailing the relationship between President Trump and Fox News during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, publishing house Simon and Schuster said its in-house imprint One Signal Publishers will publish CNN correspondent Brian Stelter’s book Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth.

The book’s release is set for Aug. 25 and will tell “the twisted story of the relationship between Donald Trump and Fox News,” according to its description. Stelter interviewed more than 250 current and former people associated with Fox News and will center around host Sean Hannity, a “college dropout, who following the death of Fox News mastermind Roger Ailes, reigns supreme at the network.”

“From the moment Trump glided down the golden escalator to announce his candidacy in the 2016 presidential election to his acquittal on two articles of impeachment in early 2020, Fox hosts spread his lies and smeared his enemies,” reads part of the book flap.

First announced on June 19, 2019, without a title, Stelter’s book has shifted its focus from a wider look at the relationship between Trump and Fox News to examining specifically how the two allegedly worked to downplay COVID-19.

On April 18, Stelter discussed his emotional struggles during the coronavirus pandemic, writing that he “hit a wall” and “crawled into bed and cried for our pre-pandemic lives.”

Fox News did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment.
