The View’s Meghan McCain trashed Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz for leading members of his party into a closed-door hearing pertaining to the impeachment investigation into President Trump.
Lawmakers not on the committees involved in the testimony of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper demanded entry into the hearing but were denied on Thursday.
McCain attacked Gaetz for what she described as a political stunt during the show on Friday morning.
“We elect you to get your freaking job done one way or the other,” she stated. “When you are sitting on a sit-in for 26 hours, or you’re doing what Republicans did yesterday, it’s the reason why Congress has a 13% approval rating.”
“By the way, Matt Gaetz, when did you become a TV star or wannabe a TV star?” McCain went on. “You want to do that? Get the hell out of Congress! Get a TV job! But you’re probably not interesting enough to do it.”
“No one’s going to hire him, he’s boring,” Joy Behar chimed in.
McCain responded, “This room that you’re talking about that he went into is the skiff room … and you are not allowed to have cellphones or cameras in it. It’s completely … it’s supposed to be a completely secure room.”
Republicans were prompted to storm the hearing in response to Democratic leadership limiting access to witnesses during the impeachment investigation.
