Police in Montgomery County, Md., say they have not received a request to begin an investigation into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, despite a report Monday that said investigators were looking into a new allegation.
The Montgomery Country Sentinel said an anonymous witness came forward over the weekend, and investigators were looking into the allegations against the judge during his final year at Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda.
“At this time, the Montgomery County Department has not received a request by any alleged victim nor a victim’s attorney to initiate a police report or a criminal investigation regarding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh,” a statement from the Montgomery County Police Department said.
At least two women have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct when he was in high school or college.
Christine Blasey Ford has accused him of sexually assaulting her at a party when he was a senior at Georgetown Prep.
Deborah Ramirez claims Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a party during his freshman year at Yale University.
Attorney Michael Avenatti, who came to prominence representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels in a defamation suit against President Trump, said Sunday he is representing a woman with “credible information” pertaining to Kavanaugh and his Georgetown Prep classmate Mark Judge.
Kavanaugh has vehemently denied the allegations.
“This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple,” he said in a statement in response to Ramirez’s allegations on Sunday. “I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name — and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building — against these last-minute allegations.”

Montgomery County’s Prosecuting Attorney John McCarthy said over the weekend he would direct the Montgomery County Police Department to investigate any complaint against Kavanaugh, “but no complaint has been filed or forwarded to his office,” he told the the news outlet.
“I have spoken with my Chief of Detectives, and neither of us have any knowledge of anyone coming forward to us to report any allegations involving Judge Kavanaugh,” police chief J. Thomas Manger told the Washington Examiner in an email.
