President Trump was “steaming mad” and 90 minutes late for a Rose Garden town hall with voters this week after clashing with 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl.
Trump “was furious — in a really s—– mood” at the town hall, a source told the New York Post. “It wasn’t immediately clear at … what had transpired at 60 Minutes, but he clearly wanted to get the hell out of the town hall and away from the media, even the more sympathetic media.”
According to the New York Post, Trump wanted to cut short the town hall, hosted by Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Eric Bolling.
Reports charged that Trump ended his interview early with Stahl of CBS News after objecting to the journalist’s “biased” questions. He then refused to participate in a joint segment with the network and Vice President Mike Pence.
A White House source told the Washington Examiner that Stahl was “very antagonistic and seemed ill-prepared in a wide-ranging interview.” Trump spent more than 40 minutes speaking with Stahl, this source said.
Bolling later shared a clip from the interview on Facebook, writing that Trump “seemed perfectly fine” after speaking with CBS.
“Not sure what all the fuss was about today with @60Minutes and @realDonaldTrump … He seemed perfectly fine at my TownHall – taped just minutes after he finished with @cbs,” Bolling wrote, before adding, “Judge for yourselves,” accompanied by a clip of the president talking about Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Trump later threatened to post the footage from the CBS interview.
Bolling’s interview aired on Wednesday across Sinclair’s vast network of local news stations and affiliates.
