Last month, anti-Trump protesters crowdfunded a massive blimp in the shape of an angry ‘Trump Baby’ to fly over London during his visit. Now, they’ve raised so much money, breaking their original target multiple times over, that they plan to fly the balloon around the world, haunting the president’s diplomatic engagements wherever he goes.
“BUT people have have been SO generous and supportive that we now have WAY more money than we can sensibly spend just on Trump’s UK visit in July! So — Trump Baby is going on World Tour!” the organizers wrote on the Crowdfunder page.
While the original protest would have stopped in London, the group behind the stunt has now raised £16,892 ($22,330.38) and now aims to raise funds to cover the cost of shipping and helium for demonstrations around the world.
“If we can troll Donald from the skies wherever he goes for long enough, he’ll start seeing #TrumpBaby in his dreams! Every penny and cent we receive from here on in will go towards making this vision a reality. Thank you!” the organizers wrote.
The page says that the details of the world tour are still to be determined, but the group is taking requests from communities that are “unlucky enough to be expecting a visit from the orange sex pest.”
The blimp, described as being a ‘six meter high orange, inflatable baby with a malevolent face and tiny hands, will make its debut flight during the president’s visit in London between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 13, Sky News reported.
“We didn’t get off to the best start with the mayor’s office over this, who originally told us that they didn’t recognize Trump Baby as legitimate protest,” activist Leo Murray told Sky News. “But following a huge groundswell of public support for our plan, it looks like City Hall has rediscovered its sense of humor. Trump Baby will fly!”
