First lady Melania Trump recognized the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, urging the public to remember the importance of faith.
“As Americans of all faith turn to prayer, this #NationalDayofPrayer reminds us of the grace of God & the importance of faith, family & loved ones in our daily lives,” Trump said on Twitter along with an almost two-minute video message.

“In these uncertain times, I know it is hard not to gather in your places of worship,” she said in the video. “But we must keep our faith in God and pray for the courage and knowledge that better days are ahead of us.”
President Trump also recognized the National Day of Prayer with a White House proclamation.
“From our earliest days, our dependence upon God has brought us to seek His divine counsel and unfailing wisdom,” Trump’s statement said before pointing out that faith was an important factor in the lives of important figures in history, such as former Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
“May we never forget that prayer guides and empowers our Nation and that all things are possible with God,” Trump added. “In times of prosperity, strife, peace, and war, Americans lean on His infinite love, grace, and understanding. Today, on this National Day of Prayer, let us come together and pray to the Almighty that through overcoming this coronavirus pandemic, we develop even greater faith in His divine providence.”
May 7 is also the second anniversary of Melania Trump’s unveiling of her “Be Best” campaign meant to provide children with a safe environment and combat bullying.
“On this second anniversary of my #BeBest initiative I am reminded that now, more than ever, we must continue to work together & champion the issues that face our children in order to strengthen, protect & provide them with a safe & more secure future,” she wrote on Instagram along with a video that was posted across all of her social media channels.
