Robert Mueller misstated which president appointed him as the U.S. attorney in Massachusetts after being asked during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
The former special counsel stated he believed President George H. Bush had appointed him to the position.
Rep. Greg Stanton corrected Mueller and told him it was President Ronald Reagan who had put him in the position.
WHOA, #Mueller couldn’t remember who appointed him to be US Atty in Boston.
He said Bush. It was Reagan.

Really, really sad that Mueller could not remember which President appointed him. How could you forget if Ronald Reagan appointed you? Mueller is like a deer caught in the headlights today. #MuellerHearing

Mueller, 74, was appointed as the U.S. attorney for the District of Massachusetts in 1986 by Reagan. He served there until 1987.
