Vocal anti-Trump commentator Anthony Scaramucci rebuked cancel culture after C-SPAN indefinitely suspended political editor Steve Scully for lying about his social media accounts being hacked.
The debacle began after Scully tweeted at the former White House communications director, asking if he should “respond to trump.” Scully initially claimed his Twitter account was hacked but later revealed that was a lie after critics called into question his ability to fairly moderate a presidential debate, which he was scheduled to do before the second debate was canceled.
“I get that he got suspended for the lie but the punishing cancel culture is over the top,” Scaramucci tweeted.

After Scully initially tweeted at Scaramucci, the anti-Trump commentator advised he ignore the president’s criticisms.
“Ignore,” he wrote. “He is having a hard enough time. Some more bad stuff about to go down.”
Addressing the controversy to the Associated Press, Scully said, “I falsely claimed that my Twitter account had been hacked. These were both errors in judgement for which I am totally responsible for. I apologize. I ask for their forgiveness as I try to move forward in a moment of reflection and disappointment in myself.”
President Trump said C-SPAN’s decision revealed the debates were “rigged” against him.
I was right again! Steve Scully just admitted he was lying about his Twitter being hacked. The Debate was Rigged! He was suspended from @cspan indefinitely. The Trump Campaign was not treated fairly by the “Commission”. Did I show good instincts in being the first to know?
