The second night of this week’s Democratic primary debate saw an increase in viewership from the night before, but still came up significantly short compared to the first debate.
Wednesday night’s debate, which was hosted by CNN, had an audience of 10.1 million people, according to early Nielsen Media Research. The debate featured 2020 front-runners Joe Biden and California Sen. Kamala Harris. The two of them were also the main attraction of the second night of June’s primary debate and they did not disappoint as Harris came out and attacked. They both attacked each other again on Wednesday while attempting to fend off attacks from the other eight candidates.
The audience for Wednesday night beat out Tuesday night’s debate, which had 8.7 million viewers.
The first night of June’s presidential debate had an audience of just above 15 million viewers, which was broadcast on MSNBC, NBC, and Telemundo. The second night did even better, eclipsing 18 million viewers.
The next presidential debates are September 12 and 13 in Houston, Texas, and will be broadcast on ABC News.
