Trump supporters and social media stars Diamond and Silk said Wednesday that Mark Zuckerberg dodged questions about his company’s effort to silence conservatives on Facebook, and called on House lawmakers to press him further on the issue at today’s hearing.
“If he was concerned about his platform being a place for all ideas, then why would he put algorithms in place to censor some ideas?” Lynnette “Diamond” Hardaway said on Fox News. “And why is he turning Facebook into a political playground for Democrats?”
“He really didn’t answer the question as to why he’s deeming us, two conservatives as if we are unsafe to the community. He really didn’t answer the question,” she added.
Diamond and Silk were initially deemed as “unsafe” for Facebook users, but their status was quickly reinstated. Hardaway said Facebook never contacted either of them when the decision was made to reinstate them.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, raised the issue of their status at Tuesday’s Senate hearing, but Zuckerberg offered no details about how the initial decision was made.
Hardaway said it looks like Zuckerberg is trying to make Facebook a safe space for Democrats, to improve their chances in the midterm elections.
“It feels like he’s trying to interfere in an election, is what we see,” she said.
She added that House lawmakers should press Zuckerberg Wednesday to remove algorithms that make it harder for conservatives to share their Facebook pages.
“Facebook needs to take off all of those algorithms, put them off of our page, not only our page, but all conservatives’ pages,” she said. “Take that stuff off of our page, so that our fans… can see and view our content.”
