MSNBC analyst suggests Trump presidency could lead to ‘horrible civil war’

MSNBC political analyst Karine Jean-Pierre suggested that Donald Trump’s presidency could lead to a “horrible civil war” during her appearance on Morning Joe Monday.

Jean-Pierre said that since Trump was inaugurated, he’s shown he “is not a president for black people. He’s not a president for women. He’s not a president for brown people. He’s not a president for the LGBTQ community. He chooses to just double down and triple down on bigotry and racism.”

She went on to plead for Republicans and party leadership to “speak up.”

“I don’t know where Donald Trump wants to take this,” Jean-Pierre continued. “But wherever it is it’s going to be dangerous. It could lead to some sort of a horrible civil war, you know, he is testing us. He’s testing the democracy. He’s shredding the Constitution. And so, Republicans — the leadership in the Republican Party — need to stand up. You have to speak up. Because if you don’t, you are encouraging this.”

Her comments about the president’s alleged racism comes as Trump faces criticism for attacking Democratic Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings.

The president called the black congressman a “brutal bully” and described his black-majority district as a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” and “more dangerous” than the southern border. Trump has repeatedly doubled down on this criticism.

Trump’s comments came after a segment on Fox News, which showed trash spewed across his district. The president’s attacks also came after Cummings, the House Oversight Committee chairman, gained authority to subpoena top White House aides for their personal communications.
