Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has a message for the world as civil unrest spreads globally: “Calm the f— down.”
In a tweet posted early Thursday morning, the British broadcaster effectively called for peace amid weeks of rising tension throughout the United States and in his home country of England.
“Everyone needs to calm the f— down,” Morgan tweeted. “We’re going nuts.”
His tweet followed weeks of protests around the world, which turned violent in some cases, set off by George Floyd’s death in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department. London is more than 4,000 miles from Minnesota, but protesters there turned destructive during demonstrations this week; some defaced statues dedicated to Prime Minister Winston Churchill and U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
Morgan, who has signaled support for Black Lives Matter on his Twitter profile, was missing from the latest episode of Good Morning Britain. The Independent suggested his removal from Thursday’s broadcast was the result of “hundreds” of complaints from viewers due to his over-the-top political rants.
On June 4, Morgan was involved in a heated dust-up with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, during which Morgan called the personal attorney to President Trump “rude and abrasive.”
