Actor Ryan Reynolds chided other celebrities for social media posts suggesting they can influence people to practice social distancing and follow other measures U.S. health officials have asked citizens to follow to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
“I think, in times of crisis, I think we all know that it’s the celebrities that we count on most. They’re the ones that are going to get us through this,” Reynolds said. “Right after healthcare workers, of course. First responders. People who work in essential services. Ping-pong players. Mannequins — they’re great. Childhood imaginary friends, sure. Like, 400 other types of people.”

Reynolds, who is a dual American and Canadian citizen, was ostensibly referencing a collaborative video showing top celebrities singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” in an attempt to lift the spirits of the public.
More than 43,000 people in the United States have contracted the COVID-19 virus, leading to 537 deaths as of Monday morning.
The Deadpool actor ended his minutelong video with a serious message to his more than 15 million Twitter followers.
“Look, stay at home. Practice social distancing. Wash your hands,” he said. “We are going to get through this thing. We are going to get through this thing together.”
