Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar is voicing her support for taxpayer-funded abortions for illegal immigrants.
“No one should fear receiving medical care because they are undocumented,” the Minnesota Democrat said in a tweet Monday night. “We must ensure that all people in our country have access to reproductive health care.”

The congresswoman tweeted this in response to an article that shared stories of illegal immigrants who felt forced to forego medical care out of concerns that they could be deported.
“I describe my abortion as coming up for air,” said a woman who got an abortion amid deportation proceedings. “It allowed me to feel a sense of control over my future.”
Omar has been a loud pro-abortion voice and supports healthcare coverage for all, even those who are not citizens. The majority of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates also support free coverage for undocumented immigrants.
“All women deserve the right to accessible and affordable reproductive healthcare, and access to a safe, affordable abortion,” Omar stated on her campaign website.
