“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert was ready to get jacked in the gym with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as he joined the 85-year-old to try out her notorious workout regimen.
In a segment that aired Wednesday night, Colbert joined Ginsburg, whose nickname is “The Notorious R.B.G.,” and her trainer, Bryant Johnson, at the gym at the Watergate apartments.
Ginsburg donned a long-sleeved shirt emblazoned with the words “Super Diva” and sneakers, while Colbert exercised in shorts, a dress shirt and tie.
Together, the pair stretched, walked on the treadmill and lifted weights.
To get the adrenaline pumping, Colbert played “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” by C+C Music Factory, a song that seemed to irk Ginsburg. The justice said she typically listens to opera recordings while in the gym.
“I would never, never exercise to that noise,” Ginsburg told Colbert. “Let’s shut it off.”
Toward the end of the workout, Colbert seemed to be feeling the burn.
“I’m cramping, and I’m working out with an 85-year-old woman,” he said.
