California Gov. Gavin Newsom said there is no state in the country where President Trump is more unpopular than his.
“We are the most un-Trump state in America; we’re also the most diverse state in America,” Newsom said Monday on The View, later saying, “It’s hard for him.”
During the president’s State of the Union address last week, Trump pointed to California as an example of state government systems that are “vastly out of control costing taxpayers vast and unaffordable amounts of money.”
“If forcing American taxpayers to provide unlimited free health care to illegal aliens sounds fair to you, then stand with the radical left,” Trump said.
Newsom, a Democrat, said Trump’s immigration policies and remarks about minorities would make him perpetually unelectable in states across the West and the South.
“Trump is scared of California,” Newsom said, later adding, “We’re gonna stand up to a bully.”

Several of Trump’s top political enemies represent various districts in California, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and lead impeachment manager, Rep. Adam Schiff.
Trump has attacked Newsom directly in the past, blaming him for California’s booming homelessness crisis.
Governor Gavin N has done a really bad job on taking care of the homeless population in California. If he can’t fix the problem, the Federal Govt. will get involved! https://t.co/2z8zM37PUA
