President Trump won the Democratic debate in Las Vegas, according to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
“So how was your night last night?” Bloomberg quipped at a campaign rally on Thursday. “Look, the real winner in the debate last night was Donald Trump.”
“I worry we may well be on the way to nominating somebody who cannot win in November, and if we choose a candidate who appeals to a small base like Sen. Sanders, it will be a fatal error,” he added. “We need Democrats and independents and Republicans to win.”
During the debate Wednesday evening, the billionaire candidate who has been rising in the polls faced a flurry of attacks from his fellow rivals. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts led the offensive, taking shots at Bloomberg’s wealth, his record on race, and sexual harassment allegations.
After the debate concluded, Trump ridiculed Bloomberg’s performance.
“Mini Mike Bloomberg’s debate performance tonight was perhaps the worst in the history of debates, and there have been some really bad ones,” the president said on Twitter. “He was stumbling, bumbling and grossly incompetent. If this doesn’t knock him out of the race, nothing will. Not so easy to do what I did!”
