Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos revealed he has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Stephanopoulos, 59, announced the diagnosis Monday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America nearly two weeks after his wife, bestselling author Ali Wentworth, tested positive for the virus.
He said his diagnosis was “no surprise,” given that he has cared for his wife, who had been hit hard by the virus, but also noted he is “basically asymptomatic.”
“I’ve never had a fever, never had chills, never had a headache, never had a cough, never had shortness of breath,” Stephanopoulos added. “I’m feeling great.”
Several other media personalities have been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus, including CNN’s Brooke Baldwin and Chris Cuomo and Fox News’s Jedediah Bila.
Stephanopoulos, who was White House communications director under President Bill Clinton, also said Wentworth was “doing much, much better” and was “going on her fifth day now with no fever, which is really a great sign.”
Stephanopoulos, who co-anchors This Week, ABC’s Sunday morning political talk show, did not appear on this weekend’s show. Martha Raddatz anchored it on her own.
