‘Limped to the court room’: Harvey Weinstein accused of faking frailty as he abandons walker in rape trial

Disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein arrived at the opening statements for his rape trial in New York with the help of two men instead of his usual walker.

The former media mogul’s decision to ditch the walker Wednesday drew notice from those waiting for his arrival. A journalist at NY1 with video of the scene said he “limped into the courtroom.” Weinstein told the reporter he believed he would “of course” get a fair trial.

Others noted on social media that Weinstein appeared healthier than he had at past court hearings.

In previous public appearances, Weinstein opted to use a walker, including his Tuesday court appointment.

Last week, a jury of seven men and five women were chosen for the trial. Weinstein’s team was furious at the decision to include a juror who is writing a book about old men preying on younger women. A demand by the defense team for a mistrial was thrown out by the judge.

Dozens of women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct, ranging from unwanted touching to rape. He has maintained his innocence but faces additional charges in California.
