VIDEO: Man wearing medical face mask caught assaulting New York police officer

A man wearing a medical face mask was caught on camera punching a New York City Police Department officer in the Bronx.

Two NYPD officers were in the midst of arresting a robbery suspect, Yoemdy Castro, on Tuesday when a man identified as Nelson Jimenez came up behind one of the officers and struck him, police sources told the New York Post.

Bystanders caught the attack on camera, and the Sergeants Benevolent Association tweeted out footage of the ordeal with the caption, “Welcome to DeBlasios NYC.”

“NYC people are dying, and suffering as COVID-19 plagues thousands but the same scumbags continue to roam the streets of NYC and attack NYPD cops,” the SBA’s tweet added.

Officers later found Jimenez in a bodega and arrested him. Charges are pending.

A second officer was also punched by a suspect named Brandee Isom, but that attack was not caught on camera, sources told the New York Post. Islom was arrested and charged with assault and obstructing governmental administration.
