WATCH: Beaver saved from rushing river after being stuck on rock for days

A beaver in Massachusetts was rescued from being swept away by a raging river.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston and the Wellesley animal control unit worked together to catch the beaver, which was stuck on a small piece of rock for days in the Charles River, according to eyewitnesses.

Concerned residents phoned Wellesley animal control over the course of several days before rescue crews were dispatched to help the beaver. After teams captured the beaver, the animal was transported to a local wildlife rehabilitation center.

“Beavers typically are not very cooperative in rescue situations, however, once the beaver was on the surface, ARL’s team was able to coax the beaver into a carrier and then transport him to a wildlife rehabilitation center,” read a statement provided by the local animal rescue league.

The beaver is said to be malnourished but is expected to make a full recovery.
