First lady Melania Trump will miss this week’s G7 summit in Canada and President Trump’s June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.
She attended last year’s G7 summit in Italy, but has been recovering from surgery on May 14 to treat a benign kidney condition. She has not been seen in public since May 10, however she is expected to attend an event for Gold Star families at the White House on Monday. That event is closed to the press.
“She will not attend the G7 and there are no plans for her to travel to Singapore at this time,” her communications director Stephanie Grisham told reporters.
Trump addressed stories about her absence from public view last Wednesday, saying she is at the White House and “feeling great.”
“I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I’m doing. Rest assured, I’m here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!” she tweeted.
