Joe Scarborough slams Capitol Police and asks why officers opened doors to Trump supporters: ‘Is it just white people?’

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough asked in a profanity-laced segment what is “wrong” with Capitol Police that its officers would allow protesters into the building amid a pro-Trump protest.

“I want to know from the Capitol Hill police: What is it? Is it just white people? Or is it Donald Trump supporters? Why do you scream at people for walking across the street three blocks away from the Capitol? Why are you known as badasses around the Capitol, but then, Trump supporters come in, and you open the f—ing doors for them?”

“You opened the doors for them and let them breach the people’s house. What is wrong with you?” he asked.

Supporters of President Trump stormed the Capitol on Wednesday as Congress began certifying the Electoral College victory of President-elect Joe Biden. Four people died, including an Air Force veteran who was shot by law enforcement while she was in the Capitol building.

The mayhem sparked at least six resignations from the White House, including from first lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff Stephanie Grisham and Northern Ireland special envoy Mick Mulvaney.

Others signaled on social media that they, too, were questioning why the crowds were allowed in, including former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who shared a video depicting the scene.

“I’ve got no questions for Donald Trump. He’s an insurrectionist. There are no questions. He should be arrested today. He should be sent to jail today for insurrection against the United States of America,” Scarborough added.

Capitol Police told the Washington Examiner that officers responded “valiantly” during the protest.

“These individuals actively attacked United States Capitol Police Officers and other uniformed law enforcement officers with metal pipes, discharged chemical irritants, and took up other weapons against our officers. They were determined to enter into the Capitol Building by causing great damage,” Capitol Police said.
