‘MY Barbie’: Jason Aldean defends wife amid woke attacks over tomboy joke

Country music star Jason Aldean has chimed in on the viral conversation surrounding his wife Brittany saying she was grateful her parents let her “tomboy phase” be just that, a phase.

In a social media video showing Brittany Aldean getting ready last week, the fashion designer said that she loved “this girly life.”

“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase,” Aldean wrote on Instagram. “I love this girly life.”

Her post seemingly referenced recent medical and political discussions concerning minors’ ability to undergo gender-transitioning procedures.

While many have praised Aldean’s post, others took to Twitter in anger.

“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging,” singer Cassadee Pope said. “But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

Pop and hip hop artist Maren Morris also slammed Aldean, calling her “a scumbag human.”

“It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie,” Morris tweeted.

That’s when Jason Aldean chimed in to say, “MY Barbie!!”, in a comment on an Instagram photo of his wife.

The country music star also responded to his wife’s controversial video post, joking their marriage would not have worked had she transitioned.

“Lmao!!” Jason Aldean said. “I’m glad they didn’t [let you undergo gender-transition surgery] too, cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out.”

In response to the attacks, Brittany Aldean explained: “Some parents want to be accepted by society so badly that they’re willing to make life-altering decisions for their children who aren’t old enough to comprehend the consequences of their actions fully.”

Aldean’s comments come as private Catholic schools are seeing an increase in enrollment due to parents’ concerns over critical race theory, gender theory, and COVID-19 policies. Many Republican states are also implementing policies intended to protect women’s sports.
