‘Disgusting’: Jim Acosta slammed for accusing Rush Limbaugh of ‘racism’ after Medal of Freedom award

Conservatives slammed CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta for his reaction to President Trump awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh.

“He was trying to make appeals to the African American community,” Acosta, 48, observed about Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night. “It can’t be forgotten that he was awarding the Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh, who has a history of making derogatory comments about African Americans. So I think, you know, overall, it’s a wash.”

Fox News host Laura Ingraham, a friend of Limbaugh, was outraged over Acosta’s accusation, calling the CNN personality “disgusting.”

“Jim Acosta is disgusting. That is a disgusting comment. Disgusting comment and false,” Ingraham stated in defense of Limbaugh, who recently announced he was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. “Every time they lose, they cry racism. Every time they lose, they say, ‘You’re a mean, horrible xenophobe.’ It’s insult after insult. What they accuse Trump of … is what they do routinely.”

Limbaugh’s producer, James Golden, who is often referred to by his pseudonym “Bo Snerdley,” issued a challenge to Acosta after seeing his comments.

“I just saw the footage from CNN’s Jim Acosta saying Rush has a ‘history’ of saying disparaging things about African Americans. I have been in the studio with Rush for 30 years. I would like to formally challenge CNN and @Acosta to provide the list,” Golden, who is black, wrote in a tweet.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 64, also piled on with his own reaction, calling CNN “Fake News.”

“It’s time for CNN to either provide the list or apologize on air for another piece of FAKE NEWS. I believe @BoSnerdley knows Rush better than anyone at CNN. Will CNN have the integrity to put up or shut up? Waiting and watching,” the former governor said.

Acosta’s comments followed many left-wing personalities celebrating Limbaugh’s cancer diagnosis online. However, 2020 Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard sent “best wishes” and “love” the talk show host’s way.
