Dershowitz rips Avenatti: ‘I don’t think he helps the legal profession’

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said porn star lawyer Michael Avenatti is hurting the legal profession, and said he hasn’t acted responsibly as he has attacked President Trump and Republicans.

“I don’t think he helps the legal profession, I don’t think he helps himself,” Dershowitz said on Fox News.

“He may help himself in the sense of getting more clients, but he has acted less than completely responsibly,” he added.

Avenatti has attacked Trump for the last several months, first by representing porn star Stormy Daniels. Avenatti has pushed to nullify a nondisclosure agreement Trump reached with Daniels, and has attacked Trump in the process.

He has also drawn some criticism for using his notoriety in that case to launch a possible White House run against Trump in 2020.

Avenatti has represented illegal immigrants who are trying to stay in the U.S with their families, in opposition to Trump’s effort to tightly regulate border immigration.

Over the last week or so, Avenatti has also claimed to have a client who is prepared to make a new claim of sexual assault against Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. Avenatti said Tuesday morning he expects to release that information sometime this week.
