‘Dishonest, partisan’: Biden slammed for Monopoly reference about sending opponents to jail

Following President Joe Biden’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday in Los Angeles, California, social media reaction slammed the interview.

The president spent much of the interview discussing gun control, abortion, and the economy while blasting former President Donald Trump and Republicans.

“I often get asked, ‘Look, the Republicans don’t play it square, why do you play it square?’ Well, guess what! If we do the same thing they do, our democracy will literally be in jeopardy,” Biden said. “Not a joke.”

Kimmel equated Washington, D.C. politics and Republicans to that of playing the game “Monopoly” with people who do not follow the rules.

“How do you ever make any progress if they’re not following the rules?” Kimmel asked.

“Well, you have to send them to jail,” Biden joked, referencing the board game.

Shortly after the president’s interview finished airing, criticism poured in on social media.

“Biden was gross in the Kimmel interview last night,” podcast host Buck Sexton tweeted. “Switched from pseudo-folksy ‘not a joke,’ ‘I’m not being facetious’ pablum to nasty, dishonest partisan attacks. There’s nothing appealing or impressive about Biden. He’s a low IQ mediocrity with neither charisma nor courage.”

Dave Rubin made a reference to the hypocrisy of the discussion.

“The elderly man pretending to be president went on the blackface guy’s late night show,” Rubin wrote.

Others commented on how the interview did little to help Biden’s low approval ratings.

“Biden hasn’t had an interview with a member of the press for 121 days, and last night’s dumpster fire of an ‘interview’ with Jimmy Kimmel showed why,” said Tommy Pigott, RNC Research Rapid Response director. “Newsflash for Biden: it’s not just bad messaging, it’s his failed agenda.”
