WATCH: Trump brings up rally crowd size during El Paso hospital visit

President Trump referenced the size of the crowd at a recent rally held in Texas while he was visiting with the victims of the El Paso shooting in the hospital Wednesday.

The president visited Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, days after the cities were the scenes of mass shootings hours apart. Over 30 people were killed in the two attacks.

In the interaction videotaped by KDBC-TV, Trump began by praising the hospital staff, but then changed the conversation to himself.

“I was here three months ago, we made a speech … that place was packed, the judges are respected now,” Trump said. “That was some crowd, we had twice the number outside.”

“Then you had this crazy Beto, Beto had like 400 people in a parking lot, and they said his crowd was wonderful,” he continued, and then another person in the room revealed that they were wearing “Trump” socks.

O’Rourke and Trump have attacked one another in the aftermath of the El Paso shooting. The former House Democrat blamed the president for the shooting as well as Fox News, while the president responded by criticizing his “phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage.”
