‘Let’s do this’: Rashida Tlaib criticized for posting gleeful video en route to impeach Trump

Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan appeared giddy on her walk to the House floor to cast her vote to impeach President Trump despite Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s calls for a “somber” vote.

The “Squad” member posted a video of the moments before she was set to vote for impeachment saying, “Hey everyone. I am on my way to the United States House floor to impeach President Trump. On behalf of my incredible district. Thirteenth District strong. Let’s do this.”

The congresswoman also posted a photograph of herself and Rep. Maxine Waters of California beaming with the caption: “MOOD.”

Tlaib’s jolly video stood in contrast to the “somber” vote ordered by Pelosi, who even donned a black dress to remind everyone of the vote’s solemnity. Several Republicans, including Trump, slammed Democrats for hypocrisy after viewing Tlaib’s video.

“This is what the Dems are dealing with,” Trump said. “Does anyone think this is good for the USA!”

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, a Republican from Texas, added, “Democrats pat themselves on the back, shamelessly proud of their dishonest manipulation of the truth and a vote that has torn this country apart. This will go down as the weakest case for impeachment in history, justifying the founders’ fears of politically driven impeachment.”

Tlaib’s feelings toward impeachment may have spilled over on the House floor. After the House voted down party lines to impeach Trump, cheers erupted, prompting Pelosi to glare at her caucus and signal them to cut it out.

Tlaib has been pushing for impeachment since the moment she was sworn into office. The freshman congresswoman caused a stir after she was filmed saying she wanted to “impeach the motherf—er” at a dinner following her congressional orientation.
