Trump: Comey will ‘go down as the worst leader’ in history of the FBI

President Trump said Friday that former FBI Director James Comey will be remembered as the “worst leader” in the 110-year history of the bureau after the Justice Department’s Inspector General found he violated the agency’s procedures while investigating Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

“The IG Report is a total disaster for Comey, his minions and sadly, the FBI. Comey will now officially go down as the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI. I did a great service to the people in firing him. Good Instincts. Christopher Wray will bring it proudly back!” Trump tweeted early Friday.

Trump fired Comey months into his presidency, citing the former FBI director’s handling of the Clinton investigation.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz determined that Comey was “insubordinate” and that he “affirmatively concealed” his intentions from leadership at the Justice Department during the email investigation by holding press conferences about the probe on July 5 and Oct. 28.

Comey said Thursday he’s standing by the decisions he made at the time because the inspector general found no evidence of political bias.
