President Trump on Wednesday predicted a win on the border wall, and said that it will be funded and built “one way or the other.”
“In our Country, so much money has been poured down the drain, for so many years, but when it comes to Border Security and the Military, the Democrats fight to the death. We won on the Military, which is being completely rebuilt. One way or the other, we will win on the Wall!” Trump posted to Twitter Wednesday morning.

Trump wants $5 billion to help construct the border wall, and wants additional money for other border security measures. But Democrats are refusing, and the impasse is threatening a partial government shutdown if no spending deal is reached by Friday.
The White House said Tuesday it’s looking into whether unspent money across the government might be there to fulfill Trump’s push for border wall funding, but it wasn’t clear if Congress would need to approve that plan, or if enough money was there.
Trump said last week he would be “proud” to shutdown the government if the spending bill did not include the $5 billion. But the White House has also indicated it doesn’t want a shutdown.
Tuesday night, Trump assured Democrats that the wall would be “beautiful,” and made of “artistically designed steel slats” that people would be able to see through to the other side.
