White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday that she’s been out to eat at a restaurant once since she was kicked out of a Virginia restaurant last month, and said things went much smoother than they went at the Red Hen.
“I’ve been to one, but I’m not going to name locations to … keep from creating any problems,” she told Fox News Tuesday. “It went fine.”
Sanders left the Red Hen on June 22 after the owner of the Lexington, Virginia restaurant asked her to leave because she works for President Trump.
Some Democrats, such as Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., have said Sanders and other officials should be hounded in public to protest the Trump administration. On Monday, MSNBC contributor Jennifer Rubin said Sanders and others should not be allowed to be comfortable in public.
“Sarah Huckabee has no right to live a life of no fuss, no muss, after lying to the press — after inciting against the press,” Rubin said. “These people should be made uncomfortable, and I think that’s a life sentence, frankly.”
Sanders rejected that on Tuesday, and said people should treat each other with respect even when we disagree.
“I’m going to continue to do exactly what I tell my kids to do, and that’s to treat everybody with respect, whether I disagree with them or not,” she said. “And maybe Jennifer Rubin can learn a thing or two from that.”
“I think it’s a sad day in America when Democrats’ only message is to attack people that support this president and support this country, and they’re here working hard every single day to make it better,” Sanders added.
