Megyn Kelly defends CNN impeachment coverage after Tucker Carlson criticism

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly returned to her old network to talk about the current political and media environment, including NBC’s handling of sexual misconduct allegations.

While the two largely agreed about growing media bias in the Wednesday night interview, Kelly corrected Carlson after he said CNN’s Jeff Zucker was running more of a “political campaign … than a news judgment.”

Kelly, 48, told Carlson that “impeachment is a big story” that should be covered by CNN.

“If the president of the United States is going to get impeached and possibly bounced out of office, it’s a major, major story. So, I think that’s defensible on the part of Jeff Zucker but I do think, sort of the hyper-focus on it by most media at the expense of all else is not new,” she added.

Kelly’s appearance on Fox News was the first time she has been on the network in over two years. She was one of the network’s top anchors before she left to host Megyn Kelly Today at NBC. NBC fired her earlier this year after a series of missteps and lagging ratings.

Sources close to Kelly told the Washington Examiner in April that she is looking to make a comeback.

“No other journalist has her skill set and knowledge to follow up in interviews, to go layers deep and reveal important moments to the viewer,” one source said. “Most journalists now are delivering points of view with no substance.”

During her interview with Carlson, Kelly took aim at NBC and said they needed to come clean about who they paid off to be quiet about sexual misconduct.
