WATCH: Cruz jokes Beto O’Rourke ‘wants to get his a** kicked’ this election

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) joked that Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke “wants to get his a** kicked a third time” this election.

O’Rourke previously lost his bid for the Senate in 2018 to Cruz and dropped out of the Democratic presidential primary in 2020. He is now challenging Republican incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott.

Cruz appeared on Newsmax TV’s The Balance Wednesday and told host Eric Bolling that he expects O’Rourke to “lose badly.”

“Beto, this will be the third time,” Cruz said. “When he launched his campaign for governor, reporters in the Capitol asked me what I thought about it. I said, ‘Well, I guess Beto wants to get his a** kicked a third time,’ and so that’s what he’s getting ready to do.”

Cruz noted that O’Rourke and other Democratic candidates, such as Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, are “out of touch with reality.”

“You know, Eric, when you and I were kids, there was such a thing as moderate Democrats,” Cruz added. “There aren’t any more moderate Democrats. They have been chased out of the party. Today’s Democratic Party is driven by the extremes.”

Cruz said voters are ready “to bring the country back into the direction of sanity,” noting that Republican victories will come as a “red tsunami” due to concerns over inflation, crime, and the border.
