WATCH: Demonstrators gather at Russian embassies in DC and around the world

As Russia began to invade Ukraine, demonstrators gathered outside Russian embassies in Washington, D.C., and across the world early Thursday morning.

In Washington, D.C., people showed up around 1 a.m. with Ukrainian flags saying they came to the embassy to try and get information and to support one another.

“Different cities throughout Ukraine are currently being bombed, and people are being displaced, and it’s horrible,” Roxolana Wynar told WUSA. “We’re here to protest to stop this war and to show the world that we’re not going to stand by and do nothing. We’re going to unite, and we’re going to call on the U.S. government to do more and our allies to do more to stop this war.”

Another protester reportedly came to the United States from Kyiv, Ukraine, nine years ago and said the rest of his family continued to live there.

The group dispersed before sunrise, but social media posts showed a few individuals stopping by the embassy to show their dissent Thursday once the sun was up.

One person was seen trying to stop a vehicle attempting to leave the Russian Embassy. Another person stopped to wave “one finger salutes” toward the embassy.

Demonstrators also gathered outside Russian embassies in other countries, including Ireland. Sky News reporter Stephen Murphy posted a photo of red paint thrown on the gate outside the embassy located in Dublin.

Red paint was also seen on walls outside the Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic‘s capital of Prague.

In response to the post, one person pleaded for others not to blame all Russian people.
