Trump campaign runs full-page ads in Miami newspapers on day of the Democratic debate

As the Democratic contenders gear up for their first debates in Miami, President Trump’s reelection campaign is running full-page ads in the city’s newspapers.

The color ads ran in the Miami Herald and the Nuevo Herald and featured a picture of Trump onstage appearing to be clapping, with “Latinos for Trump” and “Latinos flourish in Trump economy” featured on the page. There is also a version of the ad featuring the same picture and phrases in Spanish.

The Trump campaign’s Rapid Response Director Andrew Clark posted a photo of the ads along with the hashtag #LatinosForTrump.

The ads also note the president’s opposition to the Cuban government and Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro. Miami has one of the largest Latino populations in America, with Hispanic residents making up around 70% of the population.

“President Trump is clear on immigration,” the ads continue, “Millions have followed the law to come to America, new immigrants should too.”

The first Democratic primary debates are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
