James Comey endorses Joe Biden for president

One of the most controversial figures of the 2016 presidential election threw his support behind former Vice President Joe Biden on Super Tuesday.

Former FBI Director James Comey said President Trump fears Biden the most in a tweet posted the day that 14 states and American Samoa vote in primary elections and caucuses.

“Voted in first Dem primary to support party dedicated to restoring values in WH,” Comey tweeted. “I agree with @amyklobuchar: We need candidate who cares about all Americans and will restore decency, dignity to the office. There is a reason Trump fears @joebiden and roots for Bernie. #Biden2020.”

Comey lives in Northern Virginia.

Biden received a number of high-profile endorsements on Monday, including Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who both dropped out of the race the same day.

In April 2019, Comey gave $2,700 to then-candidate Klobuchar, whom he called “amazingly smart.”

Trump has repeatedly said that the Democratic National Committee is working to undermine the campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders and has slammed Biden’s age and mental health ahead of the general election.
