Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski suggested that Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont advocated for “illegal aliens to come across this border and kill Americans,” during a Tuesday night on-air discussion of 2020 Democratic candidates.
After stating that Warren and Sanders were “avowed socialists” who want to redistribute wealth, Lewandowski hammered down on the projected outcome of a Warren or Sanders presidency.
“Anybody who’s made something successful, they want to take it away from you,” he said. “They want to have illegal aliens to come across this border and kill Americans, and that’s what they think America stands for? I don’t agree at all.”
“Wow,” Fox Business host Trish Regan said softly before quickly changing the subject to the impeachment probe into President Trump’s relationship with the Ukrainian government.
Lewandowski recently testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee about his knowledge of the contents of Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion and obstruction of justice by Trump. After being questioned about misleading the media, he was heavily criticized when he suggested, “I have no obligation to be honest with the media because they’re just as dishonest as anyone else.”
Lewandowski also floated a potential run for U.S. Senate but has more recently suggested he will wait and see what happens with other GOP candidates for Senate in his home state of New Hampshire.
“Yesterday was the FEC deadline for the announced candidates to raise money [in the third quarter],” Lewandowski said to the Washington Examiner. “I will be interested to see how much money they have in the bank. That will be a driving factor.”
