Houston police investigating deaths of three teenagers in possible double murder-suicide

Police are investigating the deaths of three teenagers in Houston after their bodies were found in a home.

Deputies were sent to the home containing the three bodies after a family member found two girls, possibly age 17, and a boy, possibly age 15, with “signs of trauma.”

“Based on the trauma that was viewed, it appears that this may be a case of double homicide-suicide, but that is still going to be under investigation. But that is the preliminary information that we have,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a Tuesday evening press conference.

Police confiscated a firearm from the house, but Gonzalez did not disclose the type. The sheriff also stated that the motive is unknown.

It is unknown if the teenagers were related or lived at the home. The homeowners were away on travel, claims Gonzalez, and he said that he could not release the identity of the teenagers at this time.

The sheriff offered his condolences to the families of the teenagers and asked for prayers.

The deaths were reported after a record increase in homicides in Houston. In 2021, 473 people were homicide victims in Houston, an 18% increase from 2020 and a 71% increase from 2019, the Houston Police Department reports.
